My new favorite tool!
I'm doing a manual tranny swap on my '71 Squareback, and a friend tipped me off on a great tool for removing the input shaft seal on the used transmission so that it can be replaced with a new seal.
The seal puller cost me about $7 at my FLAPS and worked like a charm. I had spent the better part of an hour fussing with the old seal and doing nothing but mess it up with the wrong tools. When I tried the seal puller the next day, a grunt and a heave was all it took; the seal popped right out. Here are some shots of the puller in action (simulations, taken after the seal had actually been removed!).
