From: "Fuhriman, Mark" To: "'sfbay@vwtype3.org '" Subject: RE: Redwood 2/3; SJ 2/18 Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 13:09:58 -0600 I'm the Redwood host? OK. Let me know if you plan to attend but need directions. Saturday 3Feb, 10AM. I'll be able to stay 'til maybe early afternoon. Let's meet at the back parking lot off the main entrance off Redwood Rd. I sent a Yahoo map around the other day. Through the gate, over a few speed humps, and all the way to the dead-end. There are a few picnic benches there and BBQ facilities. There is water and restroom facilities too. I'll probably bring some hot dogs or sandwiches for my family. We'll probably also come prepared for a hike later on if the weather is nice. There is no parking/entrance fee this time of year. Someone asked about booze. I think wine and beer are OK. For me, root beer will be as strong as it gets. Somebody else was concerned about steep hills. If you come from Hwy 13 there is a ridge to climb over, but it shouldn't be a big deal. I go over it almost daily in my T3. Straight up and over Redwood Rd (exit Redwood/Carson from Hwy 13) is the steepest route. Or you can take a more gentle climb by exiting Lincoln/Joaquin Miller (depending on travel direction on 13) and go east up Joaquin Miller Rd. Then turn left onto Redwood Rd. to go down toward the park. (See the Yahoo map I sent around) Does anyone need a pair of late model rear fenders for square/fast? I have a pair, NOS, that I can bring if anybody might want them. If anybody expresses interest in advance I'll bring them. If not, I won't bother getting them down from the rafters. If you have any interest, e-mail me. -Mark Fuhriman
